This conference, to be staged in October of 2009, will be held in the majestic Wallaroo Town Hall on the picturesque Copper Coast with events to be held in both Wallaroo and Moonta.

The Theme for this conference is "Connections" and in keeping with the DG's Welsh family connection and the Copper Coast Welsh connection we are pleased to welcome the GSE incoming team RI District 1150 Rotary in South Wales.

Why are we holding two conferences in the same year?

Rotary International has asked for the last few years for DG’s to move their conference towards the start of the Rotary year rather than the end. DG’s have been reluctant to change, and the time has finally come to accept the recommendation of RI so 2009 will be unique and see us enjoy the benefits of two conferences.

It is highly recommended that you book before the end of March 2009 in order to guarantee your preferred accommodation type as the conference will be staged over the October long weekend and this is a very popular tourist area.

As there is much to see in this area and its surrounds and this is a popular destination for family holidays, many venues take bookings from regulars a year in advance so again, I highly recommend that you book your accommodation before the end of March in order to have a guaranteed bed!

On the accommodation page of this website there is a viewable list of the accommodation available. This will be updated as we receive information as to the availability

I have a family connection to the Copper Coast and my paternal forbears were also Welsh. The inbound GSE Team are also from Wales so the venue of the Copper Coast and its history, in my opinion, blends perfectly with our theme “Connections”.

Guest Speakers are still being finalised and as soon as we know more all the information will be published on this site.

Local attractions being considered as part of the program include: Weal Hughes Underground Copper Mine; Fishing Charters; Local Sight Seeing; Historical Moonta Mines; and the historical Museum and School House.

Vicky and I hope that you can join us in Wallaroo and copperlotarotary over the three day long weekend. Vicky and I will appreciate your company at the conference and it will be our pleasure to experience with you the history and magnificent scenery that this area has to offer along with the latest Rotary information available.

Yours in Rotary
